iRobot

One of my first projects at Oliver Wyman was to work on a case study for iRobot. I partnered with the talented Videographer, Barb Ng, to create a 5-minute video highlighting the impact of the partnership between iRobot and Oliver Wyman. Barb blocked out the edit, and I tackled the motion design.

For quite some time I had been inspired by the videos coming out of the Vox YouTube channel and was desperately itching to try my hand at their style of story telling where form follows subject matter. In this case - the form was following the iRobot engineers.

These engineers prided themselves in being professional “tinkerers” and to pay my respect to their tenacious “tinkering-spirit.” My approach leaned in to using schematic visuals, implementing mechanical and jerky animations, dialing-down the frame rate, adding flawed textures, and embracing a certain degree of imperfection that can only be achieved (I imagine) when lost in tinkering…

Even though this video was for internal and pitch purposes, I was extremely proud of the end product and more importantly finally got to scratch that “Vox itch”.
